A message to the global HSD community

Human Systems Dynamics Global Association

As many of you know, the HSD Institute closed its doors in December 2024. Since then, 2025 has been a year of transition, reflection, and collective sense-making for the global HSD community.

Out of that transition, something new has emerged.

Over the past months, members of the global HSD community, supported by a volunteer Transition Team, have formed the HSD Global Association. The Association sees itself as a HSD community among many others. It seeks to honour their diversity and autonomy, and work with them to serve the larger ecosystem. Its purpose is simple and important:

To support connection, exchange and learning, and collaboration across the global HSD ecosystem

What is HSD Global Association?

The HSD Global Association is:

  • a global community of people connected through Human Systems Dynamics

  • legally structured as a not-for-profit association, registered in Switzerland

  • a platform for global HSD exchanges among members

  • a space of connection for emerging HSD programs and events — such as Gatherings, learning spaces, and other initiatives that community members organize and deliver

  • a way for members to stay informed about HSD-related events and activities taking place across the global HSD ecosystem

The Association is intended to foster interdependence — supporting collaboration across regions, languages, and contexts, and helping the broader HSD ecosystem grow and evolve together.

How does the Association function?

The community chose a peer-governance model - a Council of Peers, made up of volunteer association members. The Council acts as a catalyst — supporting conditions for a thriving, connected, and responsive global HSD community.

In practice, this means:

  • supporting the development of community-led HSD programs and events (including the annual Gathering)

  • creating clear, light-touch structures and processes that enable collaboration — without unnecessary friction

  • fostering the emergence of the Association’s simple rules, with members participating in sense-making and decision-making over time

What’s happening now?

One of the most visible collaborations right now is around the HSD Gathering 2026, which will take place in September 2026 in Vic (Barcelona), Spain. The HSD Global Association is working closely with the Gathering team, offering structural, logistical, and community support to help make this next global Gathering a success.

At the same time, the Association is beginning to build relationships with HSD communities and ecosystems around the world. As a result, you may start receiving communications from the HSD Global Association — often connected to the Gathering at this stage, and later about other initiatives as they emerge.

This is part of an ongoing process of re-weaving global connections, making visible who is doing what, where, and how we might support one another.

We share this message as an invitation

to stay connected, to participate in ways that make sense for you, and to continue shaping the HSD ecosystem together.

Do you need to “join” the Association to be part of the HSD community?

No. The HSD community remains open and inclusive.

There are different ways to connect:

This is a living community, shaped by the people who show up. We’re glad you’re here.
