Community Projects:

Endless Possibilities

Project 1.

Towards a European Summer School “Thriving in Complexity”

A European Adaptive Action Learning Journey

Currently looking for Faculty Members, and Praxis Partners!

What do we envisage?

We envision a beautiful venue in the Netherlands where participants from different European countries gather on a Sunday afternoon for an intensive one-week HSD Summer school. For five days, from morning until evening, participants work together with experienced faculty from different countries in an active and highly interactive program.

The theory and foundations of HSD, along with its distinctive ways of seeing, thinking, and acting, are directly connected to participants' own work challenges and ongoing projects.

Following the residential week, each country organizes Adaptive Action Labs: a six- to nine-month period during which participants continue applying HSD in practice with local practice partners. As we brainstormed the idea, the following picture began to emerge. We would very much like to further develop it together with other partners.

To organise a European HSD Summer School, who are we looking for?

Sioo is an organization with extensive experience in delivering professional development programs, including the Dutch HSD Week for several years. The coordination and logistical support for the European program could therefore be organized through Sioo. However, Sioo is not in a position to recruit participants across Europe. Recruitment must be done locally. Consequently, the new European HSD Program will not be a Sioo program but a jointly owned partnership program.

Join our Faculty Members & Praxis Partners Network!

To establish a successful European HSD programme, we need to engage four key groups: Partner Organisations, Faculty, Practice Partners and Participants. Are you interested in taking on one of these roles? Do you have ideas you’d like to contribute? If so, let’s explore them together after this session, so that by next summer we can create an inspiring Summer School together and help a new generation of HSD practitioners further develop their professional practice.

What Futures Are We Creating Together?

The HSD Research Network invites you to share a story about a future you hope for, worry about, or see becoming possible.

Your story, and the meaning you make of it, will help us explore patterns across the HSD community, notice differences that matter, and identify possibilities for next wise action.

Any stories you share will remain anonymous.

If you’d like to join us in exploring the emerging patterns across these futures, you’re welcome to provide your email after submitting a story. You only need to add it once, even if you share multiple stories..

Your stories remain anonymous, and your email is collected separately from your story responses.

The Future of Virtual Meetings in the HSD Ecosystem

Read on for context, download the blog for deeper background, and use the QR code to share your thoughts in our short online survey.

Exploring future connectivity in the virtual meeting space of the HSD Global Community

The Humans Systems Dynamics Global Community is rich and diverse in so many ways, including geographic distribution.

While occasional face-to-face meetings are delightful in bringing people together physically the more common way of convening meetings is by virtual connection.

These virtual meetings are important containers for the HSD global community members to learn, to share, and to get to know each other, and to do so in ways which meets the needs of the many other dimensions of diversity within our group.

In 2026 we observe a need to explore the shape of virtual meetings in the future.

Consider it an adaptive action if you like!

Download and read the blog

Here is a link to a blog which tells something of the recent history of virtual meetings and raises the central enquiries for an adaptive action exploring how they might look in the future.

You will find, accessed through the QR code, an online survey in which you can share your views. If you prefer you can use this link to the survey.

Your opinions will be very welcome whether you are a regular participant in HSD meetings already or you are new to them.  Your experience of what works in virtual meetings of any distributed community you are part of will be of value in this adaptive action.

Please do take the time to read the blog and then respond to the survey!
